Niki Brown – 7 design questions interview
Designer – Niki Brown
Website – http://nikibrown.com
Blog – thedesignoblog.com and dailydesignbits.com
Twitter – @nikibrown

1. How much time do you dedicate to learning design every day?
I usually take the subway to work and I try to watch podcasts to learn new things. I’ve been going through the php for beginners and jquery for beginners on themeforest – very helpful!
2. What other designers do you have contact with on a regular basis?
I talk to my twitter friends quite a bit! Feel free to follow me @nikibrown and say hi! I’d love to interact with more designers!
3. Who are the top 2-3 designers that you respect and why?
I look up to Chris Coyier because he was originally a print designer like me and jumped headfirst into the web. I think its hard for designers to bridge this gap sometimes, but watching Chris continue to learn and share his knowledge is inspiring!
4. What’s your favorite website or design you ever made and why?
This is an invitation I designed for a going away party last year. My girlfriend and I were both vegetarians so we thought it would be funny to have a bring your own meat theme for the party. I wanted the designs to look like they were printed on butcher paper and to emphasize the typography.

5. Have you ever been published in a book or magazine? What books or magazines?
Nope! I should probably submit some of my designs to logo books and competitions.
6. What’s your favorite color in hexadecimal? How often do you find yourself leaning towards it with design projects?
I’m partial to dark gray
#333 – I tend to use it for body text on most sites I design.
7. What’s your most recent project we can look at?
I recently finished a book website camusaromance.com at my day job brunellocreative.com

Oops! Fixed. I do most of the blogging from my phone.
It’s funny, I use #333 color for anything I want black. It sort of softens up the complete darkness of black.
Thanks It was cool interviewing you!
